On the 25th of November, 2008 the W.S Tibetan Chamber of Commerce (TCC) held its second Annual General Body (AGM) meeting at Himachal Bhavan, New Delhi.
Honorable Paljor Secretary Mr. Sonam T. Khorlatsang graced the AGM as the Chief Guest and TCC members from India, Russia and Nepal attended the meeting.
TCC Ex-Chairman Mr. Dorjee W. Dewatshang welcomed the Chief Guest and all the participants present at the meeting. He briefed the participants about the program and projects conducted by TCC in the past years.
TCC Ex-Vice Chairman Mr. Gyalnor Tsewang talked about the importance of TCC and the support needed by TCC from the Tibetan business community to achieve its aims and objective effectively and efficiently. He also requested the Paljor Dept. through honorable Paljor secretary to provide the logistic and moral support to TCC to gain the acceptance of the Tibetan business community and general Tibetan community.
The Honorable Chief Guest Paljor Secretary Mr. Sonam T. Khorlatsang talked about the background on which the concept of Tibetan business association was introduced to the Tibetan business community. He advised the current TCC members to have faith and confident in the organization they are part of and suggested that TCC should educate the Tibetans who are indulging in various unorganized businesses through various workshops and seminars. Also members of TCC should inform other non TCC Tibetan businessmen about TCC and its objectives and encourage them to join the chamber. He also stressed on the importance of communicating with the local and international chamber of commerce. Since TCC stands for “Welfare Society Tibetan Chamber of Commerce”, he suggested having projects and programs keeping in mind the welfare of the general Tibetan community along with the business community. Also while communicating with the various donor agencies and should try and present projects and programs aiming to benefit the general Tibetan community.
He concluded with the assurance that Paljor Dept will be always there to provide the logistic and moral support.
After the Chief Guest’s address, the room was opened for the members to share their opinion and to discuss about the project and programs TCC should conduct to attract and retain the members. Few members shared their idea of how CTA can help the TCC in getting the approval and fund from donor agencies. Mr. Thinley Tharchin shared his opinion on how Paljor Dept. can help the TCC in getting the importance needed in the community and suggested that members can lend money to TCC to run the office and in conducting various projects. Mr. Dawa Rinchen suggested that TCC should be more visible among the community to get the acceptance from the people and should communicate with all Tibetan related organization. Mr. Tsetan Norbu shared his opinion on the importance of having professionalism and new systems in society and said that with the development of society new systems should be born to left lift the society towards higher development. He also suggested that TCC should try and communicate with the various Indian businesses supporting the Tibet cause with the help of CTA. He also suggested that Paljor Dept. should play an important role in attracting the Tibetan businessmen and in getting more mass acceptance. Paljor dept. should help the TCC in convincing the CTA to have Tibetan business delegation from TCC to have an audience with foreign businessmen visiting CTA and in future to have Tibetan business delegation to countries where His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Kalon Tripa Ven. Samdhong Rinpoche visits.
After the discussion session, the procedure of electing the second Governing body members for the coming next three years was conducted. The two office executives were chosen has the election officers. The members present at the meeting cast their vote for the second Governing Body members of TCC.
The selected 11 governing body members among themselves caste votes for the four executive members (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Gen Secretary and Treasurer) among them.

After the election, the new TCC Chairman shared his vision and plan for the TCC in the coming years and assured that he along with his executive members and board members will do their best in the development of the TCC.
Mr. Tsering Dorjee thanked the Chief Guest and all the participants for taking out time to attend the meeting.
The meeting was concluded with a decent networking lunch.

Newly appointed TCC Chairman Mr. Sonam Topgyal and Vice Chairman Mr. Lobsang Ngodup had a meeting with the office executives to discuss about the
action plan for the coming next three months:
In the coming three months, TCC Chairman from 9th December onwards will visit Dharamsala and along with TCC Gen Secretary Mr. Dawa Rinchen will meet the heads of CTA Departments, Tibet Support Groups and Tibetan Medias.
TCC plans to organize an Investment plan conclave in Kathmandu, Nepal on the 27th of December, 2008. Mr. Page, who is an Investment councilor at the French Embassy, New Delhi will be the speaker and will talk on the topic “Scope and Areas of Investment in France”. All interested TCC members are requested to participate in the conclave. |
